LADY JANE’S SALON®
NYC’s First & Only Romance Reading Series Shares the Love with NYC’s Less Fortunate
As seen in Time Out New York and The New York Post…
Launched in February 2009 by romance authors Maya Rodale, Leanna Renee Hieber, and Hope Tarr and book blogger, Ron Hogan, Lady Jane’s Salon® will celebrate its sixth year as NYC’s first—and still only—monthly romance reading series on February 2nd. The anniversary event will include an annual end-of-year donation award to Win, a 501c(3) charity working to transform the lives of formerly homeless New York City women and their children since 1983.
Currently eight satellite Lady Jane’s Salons have sprung up nationwide; all donate their net proceeds to a 501c(3) charity. According to Salon cofounder, Hope Tarr, the cornerstone of the project’s grassroots success is its strong commitment to community.
“From the outset, we felt it was critically important to do more than just read our romance novels aloud to fans of the genre,” says Tarr. “Instead, we made it our mission to also share the love, in this case the hope of real-life Happily Ever After beginnings, with those in our city who are struggling. If attendees to our Salon take away only one thing, I hope it’s that Happily Ever After isn’t only the stuff of romance novels—it is every woman’s birthright.”
Guest authors: Jessica Topper, Maya Rodale, Hope Tarr and Leanna Renee Hieber. Special guest: Leslie Carroll reading from Scribbling Women & the Real-Life Romance Heroes Who Love Them, a nonfiction anthology to benefit Win. Authors’ books available for sale (cash only).
Admission: $5 dollars. Net proceeds support Win.
Event Sponsors: Diversion Books and Ever After Romance.
